Don't panic!

The words Do not panic were emblazoned on the front of the Ford Prefect's copy of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe. No matter how bad things got, the Guide would provide an answer to the problem--or at least explain just how bad things were!
While we can't promise to solve all your problems, below you'll find lots of ideas of how to get your youth group or Sunday School buzzing even if the notice is short!

1) Do a scratch drama

If you've been set a passage or theme then check to see if it lends itself to a scratch drama. A scratch drama generally isn't rehearsed nor is it performed to many people. Take the group of kids you have and work with them on allocating the parts, creating some dialogue and planning the action. Give them as much scope as possible to develop the ideas with only a light directoral touch from yourself. Once the drama is complete and performed--even if only to you--then get the participants to think about the emotions they would have felt as that character. Draw out out the meaning of the passage from view of the people in it. The best passages are those with lots of characters--then everyone gets part. You never know if things go well, the kids might want to perform to their parents at the end or in church the following week.

More ideas coming soon!
